About the role

As the Senior Project Officer – Workforce Development, you will coordinate and deliver workforce development initiatives to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Your responsibilities will include:

  • leading scholarship programs: oversee the design, promotion, application, assessment and award processes for scholarships in line with contracts and funding arrangements
  • managing projects: undertake project and contract management for key workforce development activities
  • co-creating resources: collaborate with the Communications and Events team to create engaging promotional assets for workforce programs
  • building relationships: foster internal and external partnerships to amplify research, education and training impact
  • contributing strategically: play an active role in implementing the Lowitja Institute Business Plan and Workforce team priorities
  • supporting members: enhance member engagement through events, networking and tailored development opportunities.

What you bring

We’re seeking a candidate who:

  • has strong experience: at least four years in project management, education or similar roles within Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, government, NGOs or the education sector
  • understands community needs: comprehensive knowledge of the social and cultural determinants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing
  • is organised and results-oriented: proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and deliver high quality outcomes
  • excels in communication: outstanding networking and relationship building skills to engage with diverse stakeholders
  • is solutions focused: creative and proactive in overcoming challenges to achieve positive results
  • commits to cultural safety: deep respect for and commitment to fostering culturally safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Additional requirements: a Working with Children and Vulnerable Peoples Check, relevant qualifications (or progress towards them), and flexibility for occasional travel or out-of-hours work.
