PANDA’s National Perinatal Mental Health Helpline is Australia's only phone-based specialist helpline providing comprehensive mental health support to expecting and new parents. With Commonwealth funding, our free services include intake assessments, peer support, crisis intervention, brief counselling, and more.

About the Role

As a Peer Support Practitioner, you'll use your lived experience with perinatal mental health to provide compassionate, non-judgemental support. You’ll engage with parents via phone and digital channels, offer resources and referrals, and collaborate with both clinical and peer teams. This role is key to PANDA’s mission of supporting families through the challenges of early parenthood.

• Work from home anywhere in Australia

• Permanent part time role – 0.6 FTE

• SCHADS Award level 4.1

Key Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to parents facing perinatal mental health challenges.

• Conduct initial and follow-up calls, ensuring compassionate communication and appropriate referrals.

• Work with clinical teams to uphold a person-centred approach, embracing diversity and cultural competence.

• Maintain accurate client records and use various digital systems.

• Contribute to PANDA’s continuous improvement initiatives and team training.

Key Requirements

• Lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges.

• Ability to use self-disclosure effectively and maintain healthy boundaries.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with strong computer literacy.

• Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or relevant experience).

• Current Police and Working with Children Checks.
